REconnect with the wisdom of your body

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic experiencing recognizes a fundamental truth that mind, body and spirit are

inseparable. Learn to access the innate wisdom and healing that resides within

your own physical experience.

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic experiencing is a holistic therapeutic approach that bridges the connection between mind and body. Unlike traditional talk therapy that focuses primarily on thoughts and emotions, somatic therapy actively engages the body as an essential resource in the healing process.

This approach recognizes that our experiences—particularly difficult or traumatic ones—are stored not just in our memories but in our physical bodies and have an actual sensation. Tension patterns, postural habits, breathing restrictions, and other physical manifestations often hold the key to unresolved issues that talk therapy alone may not fully address.

Through somatic therapy, you'll learn to:

  • Develop greater body awareness and presence

  • Identify how emotions manifest physically

  • Release stored tension and trauma

  • Access your body's natural capacity for regulation

  • Develop new resources for responding to life's challenges

  • Create a deeper sense of embodied safety and wholeness

My Approach to Somatic Therapy

Connecting with the body is all about attunement. As we build therapeutic relationship and trust, your body will guide us in what feels safe, support and empowering.  I do this by supporting in:

  • Mindful body awareness to develop greater self-awarenss and presence

  • Breath work to regulate the nervous system and access deeper emotional connection

  • Movement explorations to release tension and release distress from the body

  • Boundary exercises to develop healthier relationship patterns

  • Resourcing techniques to build capacity for managing difficult emotions and triggers

  • Pendulation between activation and regulation to build your window of tolerance and process challenging experiences

  • Titration to build safety and confidence in feeling difficult sensations

Each session is tailored to your unique needs and often includes verbal as well as sensory processing.
